Should I snack or nah?

When I sat down to write this post (mind you I was chilling on my floor, in my room, wine in hand and veggie pizza in all) I thought of the concept of snacking. Then I thought about how many people out there either A) Are snack people for life (I love you the most) !!

B) Are people who don't care for them at all or C) People who think "snacking is bad" ! Of course, there is no right solution for everyone. WE ALL have vastly different schedules, preferences, and dietary needs, but here is a quick little tip on why you should enjoy snacking and tips for how you can!

In my eyes, snacks are an opportunity in my day to fuel my body with tons of extra good ishh, wether it's my favorite fat bombs, a few pieces of cheese and crackers, or a yogurt with some fruit . . . these small, simple, and nutritious meals are part of my daily routine because I have made them so! If you are not a snack person chances are it's because you haven't tried to introduce them into your daily routine, which is totally cool (you'll want to after reading this)! The neat thing about our bodies is that they recognize when certain foods won't be there at certain times or when the same food/meal is gone at a certain time in the day (i.e skipping lunch) to save room for dinner. Have yah done this? Chances are you snacked on a few nuts, ate an apple, drank some water, and just told your body to "stick it out" until your big dinner out at a fancy dancy restaurant in town. Believe me, I have been there and for some reason this just never works for me. I always end up eating everything on the table, and then some of my dates (lol jk). BUT SERIOUSLY. Case in point, you've probably gone for so so long not giving your body a mid-day or evening snack, that over time this hunger cue has probably diminished or gone away completely! The same would go for skipping lunch everyday, which is not what I am suggesting by any means. Give yourself a small yogurt or apple a few hours before lunch one day at a time, and I promise you your body will begin to crave this extra fuel (notice how I say fuel).

All food is exactly this, fuel, wether it's carbohydrates, proteins, or fats each of these macronutrients is needed for optimal health, energy, brain function, detoxification, muscle repair, skin integrity, immunity etc. You really can not go wrong adding these good thannngs into your life! So grab yourself some greek yogurt, a handful of walnuts, little drizzle of maple syrup, cinnamon and you have the perfectly balanced mid-day snack or try some savory fuel and step up your avocado toast with 1/2 an avocado, toast, arugula, and goat cheese! The possibilities are really endlessly, and you'll notice how much your MIND & BODY will thank you when you start to dig into your yummy lunch or dinner. There will no longer be a painstaking need to shut your stomach up, or even worse fill your stomach until you're so uncomfy you can't make it back to your desk at work. You'll sit, you'll enjoy, and not have to think twice about portion control.

Sure, right now some of you reading might think of snacking as adding extra calories to your day, but if you go along with me, and believe (truly believe me) that this is what your body will want from day-to-day then it is a whole lot less likely you will be inclinded to over indulge at lunch or dinner, or during the night mid slumber. "Cravings" be gone, just eat the good stuff when you want it and this snacking regimen will certainly help you with numerous health goals! If you have any more questions about this concept, need balanced snack ideas, or just wanna chat about nutrition in general feel free to contact me. Thanks for reading!
